Not all parents favour the long traditional style christening robe for their baby and we have plenty of requests at Kids-Posh-Togs for a short version that still resembles a christening outfit but is more modern.  This exquisite luxury cream silk christening dress fits the bill exactly and is my favourite short dress by far.

A closer inspection is required to appreciate the beauty of this dress, from the closely smocked bodice to the silk applique on one side.  A clever belt is threaded through large eyelets to create a stunning feature that hides the join between smocked bodice and gathered full skirt.  The dress has cute puffed sleeves and a matching pair of silk pants .

With the wedding season fast approaching, the sale of smart suits for boys to wear to weddings and other formal occasions is beginning to soar.  If you are looking for a well-tailored suit at the top end of the market, this beautifully cut black suit from Little Marc Jacobs is a good buy.

The 2-piece 100% cotton suit is single-breasted and is available in sizes from 2 years through to 14 years.  Therefore if you need matching suits for a number of boys in different age categories, you should be able to kit them all out.

This gorgeous little outfit in the softest baby blue colour is ideal for special occasions such as a wedding or baby’s christening or naming ceremony when you would like a modern outfit that isn’t too formal.  Although the outfit is smart, it is very wearable as a day outfit too, so you will get plenty of wear out of it.

With Spring just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about shedding the thick flannelette pyjamas of Winter and buying in new, pretty, lighter nighties and pyjamas for your daughters.

This pair of pretty white pyjamas has been decorated with a vintage style floral design with contrasting pink buttons for fastening down the front of the pyjama top.  To keep with the vintage style, the top has delicate pin tucking down the front on either side of the button band, and also the tiny cap sleeves have 3 rows of pin tucking too.

This dress needs a closer inspection to realise its true beauty.  The sheer short sleeves have beads, sequins and embroidery all over, as does the top layer of the bodice, whilst the long flowing skirt has several floaty layers of netting and underskirts all of which are topped with a shimmering fabric and edged in a satin ribbon hem.  To add the finishing touches to this dress, a silky cummerbund style sash has been added round the waist and has 3 gorgeous satiny fabric flowers attached.

The dress has a zip fastening down the back.

Another 1950’s inspired summer dress, this time from Joules.  The large polka dots and floaty skirt need no explanation!  This dress reminds me of one my mother is wearing in one of my favourite photographs of her when she was young.

Typical of Joules, the contrasting sash bow is in a colour that you wouldn’t automatically choose to go with the pink shades of the dress, but doesn’t it go well?

The cut of the dress is very feminine and elegant with the armhole edges being a cross between sleeveless and tiny cap sleeves.  The front has a cross-over design whilst the back has a small plain yoke from which the gathered folds of the dress fall.

Ideal for First Holy Communion and bridesmaid / flowergirl shoes, these ivory coloured satin pumps are inexpensive which is helpful when you don’t envisage your daughter getting much wear out of them.

The texture of the fabric is just right for the above occasions, and it has been enhanced by the tiny beads that cover the shoes.  To make them even more decorative and fancy, a wide ’sash’ and corsage have been added to the front.

A very tiny heel makes these shoes suitable for even the youngest girls.

The new 2010 Spring / Summer Collection from Cath Kidston has just been released and this lovely gypsy style tiered skirt in jersey is just one of the new range.  The pretty floral design on a sunflower blue background will go with plenty of tops already in your daughter’s wardrobe, but you can also find t-shirts in the Cath Kidston Kids range that will compliment this skirt.

Made from 100% cotton jersey, the skirt is machine washable and features 3 tiers of gently gathered frills that are attached to an elasticated waist that has a contrasting tape drawstring.

The skirt is available in sizes to fit between 2 and 8 year olds.  A matching short-sleeved jersey dress is also available.

For your smallest bridesmaid or flower girls, this lovely ivory coloured dress would look lovely.  It would look especially nice if teamed with older girls wearing dresses in the deep pink shade of the petals on this dress.

Attached to the satin bodice and cap sleeves, is a full overlaid gathered skirt with the join hidden with the deep satin sash that ties in a large bow at the back.  The sash is enhanced with the addition of three large fabric flowers.  To continue the theme of the flowers, assorted petals can be found sitting loosely along the hem of the dress.

Available in 3 neutral colours: grey (as shown), cream or black, this luxurious 100% cashmere wrap-over cardigan not only feels fantastic but it looks good too.  The flounced frill is found all around the neck edge and down the cross-over part of the cardigan front, and also bottoms the long sleeves of the cardigan and gives a pretty, feminine edge to the bottom too.  This frilled bottom is further enhanced by the drawstring which is threaded through eye-lets running all around the bottom edge.
