Whilst a full long-skirted christening robe is the traditional outfit for both boys and girls, many people feel more comfortable dressing their boy babies in a sailor suit or shirt and trouser outfit for their special day. These alternatives are perfectly acceptable and perhaps more popular nowadays.
This sailor suit is actually a romper suit, which is a lovely piece for a small baby that is easy to wear without having any fiddly trousers or shirts to tuck in. With ample room to contain a nappy, the fullness of the suit is disguised by the clever pleating of the fabric.
With a pale blue edging to the collar, wrists and around the hat, an intricate braiding has been added which gives a richer look.
This outfit from Sarah Louise is perfect for christenings, naming ceremonies, weddings and any other formal occasion where you want your child to look really special. It is available in 3 sizes: 3, 6 and 12 months.

Available in either baby pink, blue or ivory in size 3 months only, this adorable baby suit is so soft and cuddly, baby will not only look gorgeous in it, but will be warm and cosy too. Made from 100% delicate cashmere, it is luxuriously gentle on baby’s skin.
The pretty cable knit design forms a striped pattern throughout the suit, and is edged in rib stitch leg bottoms and turn-back cuffs. To soften the shape of the suit, a thin knitted cord tie is threaded through eyelet holes around the waist, and drawn together gently. Completing the outfit is a detachable white Peter Pan collar and pretty Ralph Lauren etched buttons running down the centre back of the outfit to the waist, and around the legs for ease of dressing and nappy changing.
A super little outfit which is perfect for these cold Winter months, and for use as a pram suit in warmer weather.

Winter Fashion Trends for Kids
Fashion isn`t just left to the adults nowadays as kids everywhere get in on the act, with their own fashion lines that mirror mainstream adult trends on the catwalk, whilst providing cute details, quirky fun designs and greater functionality. The look is very much about having fun and enjoying fashion – and increasingly for older children, expressing personality.
This winter, vibrant colours are a key look – reflecting the trend for block colour palettes in the adult fashion lines. Think bright cute shift dresses, sweaters and t-shirts for your kids – anything from primary shades to neon brights. Popular kids colours often reflect a basic pink/blue palette, but the kid`s diffusion ranges increasingly include nods to the grown-ups latest colour fashions – teal, chartreuse, mauve and grey to name but a few, all of which are perfect for winter dressing. Plaid and tartans are huge this season – with new bright colour mixes, and detailing includes a lot of sparkle trim and thread woven into materials – bringing a bit of glitz to even functional clothing items!
Mixing and matching is still a hot look and Denim continues to be a key basic for this, with Gap, Diesel, Baby Phat, True Religion and Rocawear being great brands for all ages. Boys particularly will love the utility and urban look or skater jeans – in a range of different blues and cuts. Team them with the ever popular hoodies, or dress it up with a shirt – tartan and plaid are hot looks for this winter. Boys khakis and denims are smarter this season, with utility pants being less baggy than in previous years. Girls denim is still strongly influenced by detailing – beads and fake fur trims, and strongly features wide leg or boot cut, low rise jeans in dark indigo blue or black – the high street stores have some fantastic designs for kids.
For winter parties, velvet, satin and silk are key materials for girls – and hot shades include mauve, raspberry, rich purple and green. Dresses, shifts and tunics are popular with patterned tights. Prints such as snakeskin or fake fur trims are also very `in` – for daytime think knit dresses, `Ugg` style boots and thick coloured tights. For boys a more subtle colour palette is key – navy, khaki and deep red are popular – with latest shirt options featuring fashion-forward details, and tailored jackets being popular. For party wear try Monsoon kids, Next Kids, Debenhams, Marks and Spencer or the kid`s lines of the high-end designers such as D&G, Chanel etc. Accessories are also big news – girls are looking for bags to match their dresses, and scarves, gloves and hats are essential for winter!
The great news is that your favourite high street – and even designer – kids clothing brands are available both online and via catalogue shopping – which offers all the fun of browsing, without the hassle of the busy high street.
