As every parent will know, it is important that children learn to swim – it might just save their life!  However, not all children take to the water straight away and take time to build their confidence when learning to swim.  A buoyancy aid is an excellent way to encourage your child to learn to swim as it takes away the stress of the fear of sinking, allowing the child to concentrate on learning to swim.  When I was a child the only choice was a rubber ring.  Okay, but it got in the way a bit, and only helped a small part of me keep afloat.  Nowadays there is a wider choice, and in my opinion the float suit can’t be beaten, as the buoyancy is spread across the main body, which in turn gives more reassurance to a nervous swimmer.

This bright stripey navy blue and white float suit is another design from Archimede.  With vertical sripes going up the body of the swimsuit and contrasting wider stripes on the waist containing the floats, this suit can be worn by both boys and girls.

Bright and cheerful, these swimming shorts for boys are new in at Joules and we think they’ll go with a splash!  In a lovely red colour with grey and white sharks all over them.  The shorts have an elasticated waist for easy dressing and a better fit, but they also feature a rope tie.

Available in sizes from 3-4 through to age 11-12, the shorts are machine washable and will look great at the poolside or on the beach.

If sharks aren’t your son’s thing, he may prefer the alternative version which feature broad white and blue stripes with a Joules number 3 applique on one leg and a contrasting green waistband.

Children just love playing in water whether it is on the beach or by the pool and with the Summer holidays not too far away, now is the time to be kitting them out with new swimming suits / trunks and associated accessories.  The thing with children is that they are in and out of the water all the time.  Getting them dried in between times especially if it is cold and windy is a real pain, and then you have to get the towel dry for when you need it the next time!

These towelling ponchos are a much better idea than towels for getting little ones dried and comfortable.  Just pop them on after being in the water and the children are warm and dry in no time, and can run around and play at the same time which is much more fun for them.  Also, by being covered up they are getting a little protection from the harmful rays of the sun too.
