Cashmere Baby Shoe/ Christening shoe Kit |
These gorgeous little ivory coloured cashmere shoes can be worn on any occasion, but for this article I am considering them for Christenings or Naming Ceremonies.
They are available in 2 sizes: 0-3 months and 3-6 months, and come as a kit to make at home. That has probably struck fear into many of you, but the instructions are extremely clear and these shoes are SO EASY TO MAKE! Even basic sewers will be able to do a really good job.
Going back to the theme of Christenings or Naming Ceremonies. When my own two boys were christened, I made the christening robe and also the cake for the do afterwards. I know a lot of people buy them ready made, but to me it was extra special to do it myself – sort of like a mother’s duty or mother’s gift. If only these gorgeous shoes had been around then I wouldn’t have hesitated in buying them to complete the outfit, and added to the heirloom collection that I hope my boys continue with their own children.
The shoes can be left plain as shown above, with just the blanket stitch around the edges for decoration, or contrasting felt pieces can be added in the shape of a pretty flower with a button sewn on top, or a felt initial – perhaps for the baby’s name. All the items required to make the shoes and the instructions are included in the pack. The cashmere pieces are even pre-cut – you can’t get much easier than that.
Whether buying these shoes for your own baby, or as a gift for a friend, they are a true gift that will be treasured for a very long time to come.
